Q. What is the size of this balance bike?
A. The Zalane balance bike is considered a 12-inch model with a height-adjustable seat and handlebars designed to grow alongside your little one.
Q. How do I determine the perfect height for my child?
A. Your child’s knees should be slightly bent with both feet planted firmly on the ground, and their wrists should sit below shoulder height when holding the handlebars.
Q. What age is this bike suitable for?
A. Recommended age is 3+. Suitable for ages 2 to 5 years, depending on height, motor skills and confidence levels which is to be determined by a child's parent/guardian.
Q. Does it have a weight limit?
A. 25kg and under is recommended.
Q. How much does the bike weigh?
A. Each bike weighs just 4.5kg, making it lightweight and easy for little riders to handle (and for parents to carry).
Q. Is assembly required?
A. Yes, some light assembly is required. Clear, visual instructions and tools are included. Most parents find it takes around 5-10 minutes.
Q. Does it have a brake system?
A. No. Our balance bikes are designed to teach coordination and control through foot braking, preparing kids for a smooth transition to pedal bikes.
Q. Does the bike meet safety standards?
A. Absolutely. All Zalane products are CE Certified.
Q. What’s included with the bike?
A. A removable wicker basket with two cream leather straps, a matching bell, tools and an instruction manual.
Q. How do I care for the bike?
A. To maintain optimal condition, store indoors when not in use, wipe down after muddy rides, and check tyre pressure and fittings regularly. See instruction manual and packaging for further details.
If you live in the Geelong area and would like to collect your order from our store, simply select ‘pickup’ at the checkout. Check our Instagram page (@baykids.au) for up-to-date opening hours.
If you live outside of this area (but still within Australia), a flat rate of AU$12 (standard shipping) or $15 (express shipping) applies for orders under AU$150. Orders over AU$150 will be sent for free with standard shipping, or can upgrade to express for a discounted rate of $7.
Please note, these rates exclude bulky items, Banwood and furniture. Orders containing bulky items or Banwood products will be charged a higher rate for shipping (AU$18 - applied at checkout), and the free shipping threshold will not apply.
Orders placed before 12pm will be packed and sent on the same business day and you will receive a tracking number upon dispatch.
We provide free gift wrapping, please add an order note at checkout if you'd like your purchase gift wrapped. Cards can also be purchased here.
Pre-orders:
From time to time we offer items for pre-order. This means we don't have the item in stock just yet, but you can pre-purchase to secure your size. Orders containing pre-order items will not be shipped until we have all the items in stock. If you would like other items sooner, please place a separate order.
Furniture:
Furniture (including Mustard Made) is only available for local pick up. Please contact us for a shipping quote if you live outside the area and would like to purchase furniture.
International orders:
Check our Shipping Policy for more information about the countries we currently ship to.
For purchases made in December, we have extended our regular returns period. If you would like to return or exchange an item you must notify us by Monday 5th January. We cannot accept returns after this date.
Returns will still be subject to our normal policy, and you will be eligible for an exchange or store credit to be used at a later date.
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a refund, unless an item is faulty.
All items must be returned in their original packaging with all tags attached. Due to hygiene reasons, we are unable to accept returns of swimwear, jewellery or cosmetics.
Sale items are not refundable, or able to be exchanged, unless faulty.
Purchases made during our Black Friday Sale (Wed 26th Nov - Mon 1st Dec) will be subject to our regular returns policy of 7 days from the date of delivery.
Original shipping costs cannot be refunded, and shipping for a returned item is the customer’s responsibility. We recommend using a trackable shipping method for peace of mind.
