Local Love - Eating & Drinking

Not being able to travel far at the moment has made us appreciate the people and places that make Geelong special. There is so much to discover in our own backyard, we can’t wait to get out and support some of our favourite local businesses over the next few months.

Funk by Botanical Brew

One of our absolute favourites, keeping us going in lockdown and out, is Funk by Botanical Brew. This family run cafe in Geelong West opened in June 2021, and has firmly established itself as THE place to go for the best coffee and homemade baked goods in town. The courtyard out the back is the perfect spot to enjoy the Funk goodness on a sunny day too.

Born & Bread

You might sense a theme here, coffee + baked goods = happiness. The thing we love most about Born & Bread in Newtown is their delicious, fresh sandwiches and paninis. It can be tricky to find a park near this local favourite, but the halloumi panini is worth the walk. And a loaf of the seed & polenta bread to-go means you can try and re-create some of the signature sandwich combinations at home.

Tacos y Liquor

Lockdown life has been all about the takeaway coffees, but for a night out you can’t go past Tacos y Liquor in Little Malop St, Geelong for authentic Mexican and good vibes. The Al Pastor taco is just like what you would find in a side street in Oaxaca, and the margs will hit the spot.
